Hoobastank will take the stage as it performs on July 21(Saturday) on the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. This Post-grunge quartet’s performance is in conjunction with their California stop world tour wherein they will be joined by a Californian rock band.
The concert is set to start at around 5 o’clock in the afternoon, just shortly after the end of the day’s on-track activities. It will also include the qualifying for the American round of the MotoGP World Championship.
Hoobastank ensured that the avid motorcyclists and fanatics of MotoGP would finally get to witness the race, which features the only appearance of the MotoGP World Championship in North America, so they are grabbing the opportunity to perform at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix.
Hoobastank drummer Chris Hesse said that all of them in the band ride motorcycles and are avid fans of MotoGP. The quartet is thrilled to finally see the actual race because they missed the last two years due to their concert tours. He added that they are looking forward to playing in the middle of all the other GP fans. They are also excited to see Rossi, Hayden, Edwards and all of their favorites in Monterey.
During the event, the band will not take the stage alone because Yamaha Factory MotoGP star Colin Edwards will present a full set of his racing gear to the highest bidder. The bidding is in lieu of the recently held auction with Yamaha’s charity – Feed the Children, as the beneficiaries. Before the show starts, the “Texas Tornado” will also entertain the audience with his t-shirt gun and many other antics.
This season will be the third year for the Saturday concert – an event that traditionally features a popular rock band whose members are also fanatics of the MotoGP. Also, this will be the third year for Yamaha and its financial partners HSBC and GE Commercial Distribution Finance to present the free show that takes place at the base of the hillside overlooking Turn 10.
Bob Starr, the National Communications Manager for Yamaha Motor Company, said that Hoobastank is an awesome band and the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is just another event for avid fans of motorcycles to enjoy during this fantastic weekend of activities. He added that their financial services partners’, HSBC and GE Commercial Distribution Finance, cooperation is just another proof of the overwhelming enthusiasm of the auto industry for the said event.
The concert will finish at 7 o’clock in the evening, while the spectator shuttle buses will continue its operation until 8 o’clock in the evening – the same time the gates will close.
For all three days of the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, general admission tickets are still available. A limited number of paddock passes and camping options are also available.
