Many families chose to celebrate Easter Sunday at Del Monte Beach in Monterey where a large metal cross mysteriously appeared.
The cross was installed in the same spot that a redwood cross was chopped down by vandals in 2009.
So far, no one has claimed responsibility for installing the cross.
Monterey’s assistant city manager, Hans Uslar, said, “We do not know who put the cross up there, nobody told us.”
Eight-year-old Grant Childs and his family were one of many that decided to take pictures with the new cross for an Easter photoshoot.
“I thought it would look cool with the cross behind us and us sitting on a rock,” Grant said.
One group of friends took a white rabbit with them for fun photos.
