Become the speaker you want to be
Public speaking is the number one fear in America. Death is number two.
You can overcome your fear of public speaking in a friendly, supportive atmosphere in local Toastmaster clubs. Greg Gash, President of Steinbeck Toastmasters, the Salinas chapter of the non-profit organization, states, “Each club provides a supportive and positive environment where members have the opportunity to develop their skills at their own pace,”
To show how painless it can be, Steinbeck Toastmasters is hosting an open house on Thursday, January 21st which will highlight some of skills you can learn, including
• Giving presentations
• Speaking with clarity & fluency in front of groups
• Providing & receiving positive feedback
• Thinking on your feet
• Developing meeting skills
• Building confidence
• Practicing leadership skills
Open house will allow people to see how a club meeting is organized with prepared speeches, impromptu talks and evaluations. Hear April King, Community Outreach Coordinator at the SPCA, give her award winning speech “Living with Cats and Dogs” April came in second place in the humorous speech contest for the northern California division of Toastmasters.
