An Evening with Jake Shimabukuro
PUBLIC TICKETS DO NOT GO ON SALE UNTIL FRIDAY, JULY 10 AT 9:30 AM
Jake Shimabukuro has topped Billboard’s World Music Chart numerous times and has been declared a musical “hero” by Rolling Stone Magazine, which also stated: “one of the hottest axemen of the past few years doesn’t actually play guitar.” Known for his highly energetic strumming on the ukulele, Shimabukuro’s live performance incorporates elements of thoughtful, sophisticated arrangements with spontaneous, improvised passages. He has combined the qualities of a long line of virtuoso ukelele players with modern rock musicians to create a sound that’s uniquely his own but still firmly grounded in Hawaiin tradition.
In addition to his electrifying original compositions, his diverse repertoire includes Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, Schubert’s Ave Maria and Cohen’s Hallelujah. He has collaborated with an array of artists that include Yo-Yo Ma, Jimmy Buffet, Bette Midler, Cyndi Lauper, Jack Johnson, Ziggy Marley, Davd Koz, Michael McDonald, Bela Fleck and The Flecktones, Tommy Emmanuel, and Lyle Lovett- as well as orchestras around the world.
